About the artist:
Magdalena Cavallin, based in Höganäs. Educated at Konstfack in Stockholm.
I mainly work as a freelance artist with a focus on painting and collage. With masonite, vinyl paint, drawing and paper clippings from preferably older books and magazines, I work intuitively with motifs and questions, my visual world moves in the borderland between dream and reality. Sometimes I make smaller collages and sometimes larger paintings, often with elements of collage. Desolate landscapes with geometric and architectural forms create scenes where the characters and objects can meet and interact. As a change and to oxygenate my artistry, I periodically illustrate other people’s texts, My latest collaboration of that kind resulted in the picture book “Ingenting och Allt” by Naima Chahboun. My illustrations are made in the same way as when I make my paintings/collages, usually in larger formats,. The images are made manually and minimally processed digitally.
